The windy city of Wellington is the second biggest and the capital city of New Zealand. The city is located on the foreshore of Wellington Harbor and surrounded by mountains. This is among places to welcome New Year 2024 the first in the world.

Celebrations

New Years Eve is celebrated with free music, films and fireworks by Frank Kitts Park Lagoon, and a food truck village in Odlins Plaza.

The evening kicks off with family entertainment from 8:00 pm, with The Hollywoods singing all your favorite tunes, followed by a kids countdown at 9:00 pm.

The Big Band NYE begins at 8:00 pm, when the popular waterfront site will come alive with newly commissioned illuminations. A special mini-countdown will take place at 9pm for little ones who need to get home to bed.

From 10:00 pm, in true artsy city style, the entertainment consists of iconic local movies to the soundtrack of Wellington Orchestra during the countdown to  to midnight and a blast of fireworks to bring in the New Year.
